and urban regeneration of small alpine towns

Summary:

WP5 Tschlin

Strategies for an integrated tourism

Case-project abstract

Change of use for empty building to a touristic option, beginning with the school building

Reasons for the choice of this case-project

Changing from a rural to a soft-touristic town

Adopted methodology

Spreading awareness among the local population about the concept of integrated tourism to be developed by exploiting the available local resources and infrastructure.

Expected benefits (local and regional levels)

Especially at local level the improvement of the tourist industry will mostly benefit the creation of job opportunities (catering and hotel activities). Other important spin-offs will be enhanced among the economic activities induced by tourism: handicraft, cheese and meat production of local farmers, the local brewery and all the goods with the ‘Bun Tschlin' brand will find new channels of distribution and selling.

Are follow-up activities foreseen ?

The implementation of a soft idea of tourism with the new hotel will start at first with the founding of a new society, which should take care of the financial backing concerning the renovation and enlargement of the empty existing buildings.

Expected value added (other than financial) from the participation to an INTERREG project

A meningful learning from the experiences of the other partners countries and a fruitful exchange of best practices.

Output indicators

New successful using of the school building, number of guests in Tschlin

Impact indicators

Number of tourists and new job places.
