Regional Council
The Region is responsible for general education and professional training (construction and maintenance of lycées = secondary school for 15-18 year olds, the professional integration...), economic expansion, regional planning (regional passenger transport services, development of the different "localities" of RA...) and international cooperation.
The Region is make up of an professional assembly (Regional Economic and social Council = 116 members) and an elected assembly (Regional Council = 157 members)

Rhône-Alpes mountains are set in three different areas: the Alps on the Swiss and Italian border, the Jura to the North and the Eastern slopes of France's central mountains, the Massif central.
